The Product
La Prairie Cellular Power Charge Night, $585, Holt Renfrew
The Promise
Using a combination of potent anti-aging ingredients, including the one-two punch of retinol and oxygen, this product will work to retexturize skin and support natural cell turnover for a reduction in lines, wrinkles and age spots, minimized pores and increased firmness.
How it works
Retinol, an ingredient known for refining skin's appearance and filling in fine lines and wrinkles, is bolstered by an energizing oxygen system that helps support the intake of moisture. The product's pump bottle contains two chambers: one containing the retinol cream, the other an oxygen-infused gel. As traditionally retinol cannot be combined with oxygen, this dual-release system allows the highest potency of each ingredient to be maintained right up until the moment of application. Together with repairing peptides, protective snow algae, antioxidant phyto stem cell extract and a soothing tissue guidance matrix, skin is retexturized, recharged and revitalized.
How to use it
Apply one to two pumps to cleansed face and neck nightly by dispensing on the back of the hand and mixing with fingertips. Moisturizer can be applied on top if desired.
The bottom line
Dear readers, thanks to your devotion and dedication, and your numerous emails requesting the return of Test Counter (okay, there were three emails; two of which were written by my mom), I'm back! And I'm here to tell you that the retinol-oxygen system in this product is just what the Botox-phobic among us – me included – have been praying for. Immediately upon application, I see a boost of radiance in my skin and a plumped appearance. I wake up with smoother and more luminous skin, and that pesky line between my eyebrows that actually has me considering growing in a unibrow to mask it, has noticeably decreased. It's a pricey product, sure, but you'll get a good return on your investment. And as we all know, the return is what truly matters.
