As more stars sport swish trousers on the red carpet (Emma Stone, Julianne Moore and Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka are all advocates of paparazzi-ready pants), it's now time to reconsider your own lower half. The pyjama look that's perennially favoured by folks at fashion week has brands such as J.Crew using jolly motifs on comfortable-but-snazzy bottoms. For fall, the brand mined the archives of British accessories house Drake's to find a selection of iconic patterns that have been recoloured and printed in Italy. Dries Van Noten sent wild, wide-legged purple-and-silver pants down the runway for fall 2016, and Mary Katrantzou and Altuzarra offer their own interpretations of outrageous jacquard separates; both pair well with solid-coloured blazers and cozy knits. And Tibi has splashed iridescent sequins across a pair of slouchy trousers – an unexpected take on extraordinary leg work.
