At Haute Couture week in Paris, designs were in pieces – in the prettiest way possible. At Versace, a lemon yellow frock featured fine appliqués, mesh and a swath of frayed-edge chiffon. Meanwhile at Christian Dior, a series of sumptuous coats had an extra-luxe edge thanks to bell sleeves made of fur (Elie Saab also accented opulent gowns with dyed fur trim). Russian designer Ulyana Sergeenko tacked a sheer bodice covered in dainty polka dots onto a drapey gown made of heavy navy silk, and Giambattista Valli celebrated the notion of fusion by wrapping a black bandeau around a shift dress decadently covered in beads. It’s become clear that, come fall, you actually will be able to have it all.
