Party photos of the week: Canadian Stage Theatre Ball
The Canadian Stage’s Theatre Ball proved that “theatre geeks” are a thing of the past as they turned it up last Thursday at The Carlu. DJ Skratch Bastid and violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain led a classical and hip-hop mash-up performance that got Matthew Jocelyn and Adrian Lang from Canadian Stage fired up on the dance floor. CBC’s Amanda Lang was it-girl of the night as she played host but also drummed up the most money during the live auction for her lot – a “unique” evening with her and Kevin O’Leary. Business babes Arlene Dickinson and Twitter Canada’s Kirstine Stewart also made an appearance. The crowd of 400 raised more than $300,000 to help fund the company stage more than 280 performances, employ more than 250 artists and provide theatre education to more than 1,550 students every year. parties@globeandmail.com
