Party photos of the week: Julyna fundraising gala
Move over, Movember – there’s a new hair-raising fundraiser in town. The Julyna campaign, which launched July 1, is all about the ladies and grooming “their hair down there” as a means to raise money and awareness for cervical cancer. Spearheaded by Vanessa Willson and Roxanne Chapman, the annual fundraising gala was held on July 25 in Toronto and playfully focused on the female form with a live naked-girl-sipping-wine art installation and tasteful nude paintings and photographs for auction. The room, a loft space in the east end, was lit appropriately pink while the crowd of twenty- and thirtysomethings sipped on cocktails, took photos in the “shameless selfies” mirror, and snacked on bites courtesy of the Jimmy’s Fine Foods truck, which was parked out back. Founder Ms. Willson said she hopes ladies will take a stance, like Movember, and “sign up their bush to make a muff statement.” The event and month-long activities raised more than $40,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
