wine review

When I last reviewed this wonderfully rounded, oily Scotch (three years ago, at $83.95), it came across like salty granola with caramel and a drop of oloroso sherry. That description is not out of line with the current bottling, but there’s now a clearer note of brown sugar, it seems to me, as well as more of an apricot-orange fruitiness in the mix. The 43-per-cent alcohol suits it well, asserting warm spice rather than sharp heat. Another gem from Glenfarclas. Available in Ontario at the price below, $84.99 in British Columbia, various prices in Alberta, $72.75 in Quebec, $62.99 in New Brunswick.
