Family-owned La Ferme du Mont essentially farms organically, though the Vedeau family reserves the option to use chemicals sparingly in the event of vineyard disease. The wines often represent excellent value, as does this full-bodied red. Though fully ripe, at 14.5-per-cent alcohol, it's nicely restrained, with nuances of raspberry, cherry and currant set against bright acidity, with an attractive earthy component developing in the second act. Suitable for most red-meat dishes.
