It was a cool, challenging season for B.C. grape vines in 2011. One senses the brisk, herb-enhancing characters of the weather in this full-bodied red. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot, it suggests a whiff of Loire Valley cabernet franc to me, with a note of green bell pepper and a tight acid spine. But that's not a bad thing. It's also got an enticing strawberry-shortcake core framed by fine, light tannins; $24.99 in B.C., dirtylaundry.ca.
