Terrific red Bordeaux from a superb vintage. Made mainly from merlot (with 10-per-cent cabernet franc), this ripe grand cru from Saint-Émilion shows juicy black fruit graced by hints of mint, smoke and bitter cocoa. A good dusting of fine tannins provides structure. It should improve with up to 12 years in the cellar.
