This is serious Chianti, the sort you lay away in the cellar for up to 12 years and enjoy with a regal roast rather than with pizza and wings. Pushing 15.5-per-cent alcohol, it's very ripe and displays berry intensity along with suggestions of beef jus, cedar, spices, chocolate and tobacco. There's a lively, saline quality to the finish, too. It hides the alcohol well. Available in Ontario.
