It's very expensive, but it's the holidays, and there are Amarone devotees for whom this would be nirvana. Chocolate cake, fig, cherry, spices and tobacco all make appearances in this full-throttle, 16-per-cent-alcohol red, which delivers good acidity for balance. It would cellar well for 15 years at least and pair nicely now with cheeses.
