Malbec from California – not Argentina. Actually, it's a blend of mainly malbec with dollops of petit syrah and cabernet sauvignon grown in various parts of the state. Full-bodied and sappy, with sweet blueberry and raisin fruit supported by vanilla and damp earth, it's ripe in a crowd-pleasing way. $16.99 in B.C., $18.99 in Nova Scotia, $19.48 in Newfoundland.
