ON LOCATION
The Muir hotel
On the late June day that the Style Magazine team sets sail in Halifax Harbour, its waterfront is ramping up for the summer season. Our departure point, and the nexus for so much of its sunny energy, is the Queen’s Marque district, the complex of restaurants (Designing Canada list alum Toridori; fine dining destination Mystic) and shops (including perfume brand 7 Virtues’ custom fragrance atelier) anchored by the Muir hotel.
Part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, the Muir debuted in 2021 in a contemporary space by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects and Studio Munge. Four years later, its chic suites and attentive staff have earned it a reputation as one of Canada’s top luxury destinations.
This fall, the Muir’s guest offerings are focused on capturing the spoils and landscapes of Nova Scotia. Get out of town with the Cape Breton Highlands experience, a daylong land, sea and air trek across the vast maritime island. Or stay in and sip the afternoon away with its Peacock Wine Bar’s sampling of Annapolis Valley bottles. There’s also still time to set sail on Little Wing, the 36-foot Morris yacht in many of these images. Weather permitting, guests can book boating excursions from May through October.
