BEST FOOD FOR THOUGHT... MAKE THAT THOUGHT FOR FOOD

Some foodies will look at you like a criminal if you put ketchup on some meals. But no offence ranks higher than ordering a steak well done. A post about British food writer Jay Rayner, who said that ordering a steak well done is a "crime against food" elicited plenty of responses from people ready to send such diners to food jail. But Silvanus1 offered this morsel of wisdom:

"The biggest crime is committed when people are dumb enough to actually listen to what other people think with regards to what they eat. It's your choice what you eat. If someone else doesn't like it-well, unless they're paying for it, their opinion means diddly. Eat what you like and enjoy it. Ignore what you don't like, or give it to those who are desperate to prove to the world that they're 'special.' I'm sure the world will give them all the consideration that they are due...:)"

To thine own steak be true.

BEST CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

What sort of grouchy Grinch would take Santa away from kids? Some bloggers think it's a good idea. But perhaps wondering if it's okay to tell the little ones a little white lie about Santa is the wrong way of looking at the matter.

Fed Up in YHZ offers the right way:

"There are times, as an adult, that I long for the joy, excitement and wonder that Santa Claus brought. Sure, once the myth of Santa was dispelled, I still got the same amount of presents under the tree, but the magical element was missing. I take no issue to opting out of the commercialization of Christmas - I've done it for many years, forgoing presents, decorations and such. But I still understand the joy that the idea of Santa brings to children, and that's why I spend a great deal of time volunteering and helping raise money for an organization that provides food and toys to families who otherwise wouldn't have a Christmas. I would never take Santa away from a child."

You're definitely on the big guy's "Nice" list.

BEST DIET ADVICE

There are good food ideas, and then there are bad food ideas.

How to tell what to dig in to and what to stay clear of? A_G offers a good rule of thumb:

"Whenever the words 'food' and 'product' are put together, that's a sure sign you should never put the result in your mouth."
