If you’ve ever watched a high-school romance flick (and who hasn’t?), it always ends at the big prom. For decades, it’s been the culmination of a huge part of every teenager’s life, and a step into the next phase of their lives.

They’ve changed since their pop culture heyday — ruffles and sequins have been replaced with Instagram photoshoots — but proms elicit life-long memories, for better or for worse.
