Photo tip for Nov. 18: Early morning or late afternoon light is very warm and almost magical as the sun hangs low in the sky. This image uses that light to full advantage with the warm glow and long shadows.

Photo tip for Nov. 17: This is a great example of using light as a graphic element. The bright shaft of sunlight coming from the top left corner helps to draw your eye through the image to the swimmer while also acting as a graphic element on its own.

Photo tip for Nov. 16: Early morning weather conditions can be very different than the rest of the day and the direction and quality of light very often lends itself to stunning photographs. So get up before sunrise and take a fresh look at your world.

Photo tip for Nov. 15: This image is the perfect example of keeping an eye on what's happening around you. When you focus solely on your subject you might miss pictures that are happening because of your subject. Here the photographer noticed the people taking their own pictures of the event and that in itself made a picture. Keep you eyes open.

Photo tip for Nov. 12: Globe reader Blake Maybank captured this week's assignment of work perfectly. The image titled "The street barber of Noida" does a great job telling a story about the barber. The tools of the trade laid out on the table for the viewer to inspect as the mirror reflects the barber at work gives a look into his daily work. The image was taken on the streets of Noida, New Delhi, India.
