One man is dead and two others are hurt after a shootout in a central Nanaimo parking lot Tuesday.
Police rushed to the lot belonging to a business in the 2000 block of Wilgress Road just before 4 p.m. after getting reports of shots fired.
One person was killed, apparently by gunfire, said RCMP in the region. Officials found two others also suffering gunshot wounds and they were sent to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for treatment.
"Officers are still on scene and will be for some time attempting to determine the motive behind the shooting" said Constable Gary O'Brien, a spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.
The man's identity is being withheld until investigators can notify next of kin.
