Former Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien says he doesn't want to over-hype his comedy tour as it descends on Vancouver.
But he jokes that those lucky enough to snag tickets for shows Tuesday and Wednesday at the Orpheum should know "attendance will cure all known diseases."
Mr. O'Brien, whose brief run as Tonight host ended in January, kicked off his 30-city "Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour" Monday in Eugene, Ore.
Mr. O'Brien took over NBC's landmark late-night program last June but exited the network eight months later after he refused to move his show back half an hour to make room for Jay Leno.
The former Simpsons writer just announced a five-year deal to host a late-night program on TBS. The show is expected to debut in November.
'Thought I'd stir up some controversy by wearing my hat that says "Canada," Conan writes.
On Tuesday, a TBS spokesman told The Globe and Mail that the network hasn't yet determined whether Mr. O'Brien's new show will be available in Canada.
The comedian's other Canadian tour stops are Saturday at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Enoch, Alta., and May 22 at Toronto's Massey Hall.
Mr. O'Brien was barred from appearing on TV until September because of his settlement agreement with NBC and announced the comedy tour last month. Much of his communication with fans since he went off the air has been via Twitter, where he's urged Team Coco to get ready for a towering tsunami of dry, self-deprecating humour.
