A former member of B.C.'s notorious Red Scorpions gang has admitted to two drug-related gang killings dating back almost 10 years.

Thirty-nine-year-old Anton Hooities-Meursing was in a New Westminster courtroom today, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.

Mr. Hooities-Meursing admitted killing 22-year-old Randy Mcleod of suburban Surrey in 2001 and 19-year-old Gurpreet (Bobby) Singh Rehal of Abbotsford, B.C., in 2003.

The Crown stayed a first-degree murder charge in the 2003 death of 24-year-old Jean-Guy Laurent Lahn.

Corporal Dale Carr of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the murders were tied directly to drugs, gangs and organized crime in the Metro Vancouver area.

Cpl. Carr says Hooities-Meursing turned himself in to police and provided the information that led to the charges because he wanted out of the gangster lifestyle.
