He's one of Vancouver's best-loved and fastest-rising musicians, but Dan Mangan, whose hit album is aptly titled Nice, Nice, Very Nice, isn't forgetting those who have less.
The singer-songwriter, who has performed at festivals from Glastonbury to Sasquatch, was named Artist of the Year at the Verge Awards and last fall landed three Western Canadian Music Awards including Songwriter of the Year. He has curated and is the host of Smorgasbord, a fundraiser for homeless youth featuring music, spoken word and multimedia performances by Mangan, Veda Hille, Aidan Knight, The Crackling, Charles Demers, Mike McGee, Tigermilk Collective, Boca del Lupo and more, all of whom are performing for free.
Mayor Gregor Robertson will also hand out the Local Hero Award to honour those working to battle homelessness in Vancouver. All of the evening's proceeds go to End Homelessness Now.

Smorgasbord is at St. Andrew's Wesley United Church in Vancouver at 7:30 Saturday. For tickets and info, visit eventbrite.com or danmanganmusic.com.
