Talk to a man about himself and he will listen for hours.

It's a classic proverb that's attributed to 19th century British politician Benjamin Disraeli - but it's also the driving idea behind revered choreographer Crystal Pite's latest work, The You Show.

Made up of four powerhouse duets that explore love, loss, conflict and triumph, the highly relatable works open the door for viewers to feel those same emotions, and in their own bodies - so when the dancer's knees hit the floor, you'll feel it in your knees; and when the dancer's heart hits the floor, yours goes down with a thump.

Featuring nine dancers from Canada, the U.S. and Europe, as well as music by composer Owen Belton, the works - A Picture of You Falling, The Other You, Das Glashaus and A Picture of You Flying - weave through characters from couples in their bedrooms to soaring superheroes.

As Ms. Pite puts it, "Life, whether you are superhuman or simply human, is epic."

The You Show runs through Saturday at the Cultch. For more info, visit thecultch.com.
