Kamloops RCMP say they have received photos taken at the massive bush party on Tuesday night where a 17-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted.

On Wednesday the RCMP called on the public to prevent any pictures or videos taken of the assault from appearing on social media, and to turn them into police to assist in the investigation.

RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush did not have information on the number of photos sent in since then, but said police are reviewing them for any evidence of the assault.

The party took place in a rural location outside Kamloops known as Tree Flats, and police say around 1,000 high-school aged people attended.

Police had set up roadblocks around the party to search for alcohol and drugs.

According to the account given to police, at one point during the evening the 17-year-old girl became separated from her friends and was approached by an unknown male, who then took her into the bush and sexually assaulted her.

"With assistance from the public, this high priority investigation is proceeding," said an RCMP statement released Thursday afternoon. "The Kamloops RCMP ask that the sensitivity of this investigation be respected."
