It's one thing to enjoy the quiet peace of snowy mountain forests; it's quite another to experience it at 80 kilometres an hour.
But on the Grouse Mountain Ziplines, you can clip yourself in and go hurtling above the snow-capped treetops at heights of up to 200 feet, across the peaks of Grouse and Dam mountains, and into the Blue Grouse Lake region of the park.
Tours are approximately two hours and take you along five different lines, all of them with breathtaking views of B.C.'s old-growth forests. Along the way, your guides will fill you in on the flora and fauna, and their significance to native people.
"It's magical," says Grouse Mountain spokesperson William Mbaho. "The adrenalin kicks in and you really do feel like you're flying over a winter wonderland."
Grouse Mountain Zipline tours are available year-round. Participants must be between 70 and 250 pounds, and wear appropriate footwear. For more information, go to grousemountain.com. Similar tours are available in Whistler through Ziptrek Ecotours, ziptrek.com.
