A teenaged bull rider is dead after he was bucked off and stomped on by a bull at a rodeo in Valemount, B.C.
About 200 people were watching as 18-year-old Makwala Derickson-Hall was thrown from the bull and stepped on.
Emergency personnel were able to give immediate first aid and the young man was rushed to the local health unit, but died of his injuries.
Mr. Derickson-Hall's family released his name and wanted the public to know he is a member of the Okanagan First Nation.
The accident happened Friday night on the first day of the three-day rodeo in Valemount, which is about 80 kilometres from the B.C.-Alberta boundary and south of Prince George.
RCMP say the provincial coroner is investigating the death.
