Art: Pictured Windows opens at the Equinox Gallery this week, and it looks amazing. The gathering of stunning storefront photographs spanning 100 years documents consumer culture and urban life through the beautiful images of artists such as Roy Arden, Fred Herzog, David Wisdom, Walker Evans and many others. Celebrate the seldom-recognized art of the window display and the quiet messages conveyed through glass. The opening reception takes place on Saturday, March 28 (2-4 p.m.) and the show runs until May 2.

Opening: Saturday, March 28, regular gallery hours: Tue-Sat 10 a.m-5 p.m., Equinox Gallery (525 Great Northern Way), equinoxgallery.com

Humans: Get your high-energy indie-electronic dance fix at Celebrities on Saturday night. Vancouver band Humans takes the stage at the West End venue to play a few sets to a home crowd midway through touring (they just played SXSW) in support of their first full-length album, Noontide, (released Feb. 24). This show is expected to sell out.

Saturday, March 28, 9 p.m., Celebrities Nightclub (1022 Davie St.), $15, celebritiesnightclub.com

DIY: There's a beginners cheese-making gig going down at the UBC Farm this week. Settle into the three-hour workshop with "guerrilla cheesemaker" David Asher and leave armed with the basic information required to make your own fresh cheese at home. From UBC Farm: "The focus on DIY emphasizes how these techniques can be explored in your home kitchen. Topics of discussion also include raw milk, rennet and dairy ferments."

Thursday, March 26, 5:30-8:30 p.m., UBC Farm, 3461 Ross Dr., $45 (Materials included), ubcfarm.ubc.ca

Listen: It's always a good idea to take a step back and slow down with some classical music. This weekend, you can grab a seat in the audience at St. Helen's Anglican Church in Point Grey to hear the Vivaldi Chamber Choir perform sacred choral music, with highlights from Fauré's Requiem (as well as some Bach, Vivaldi and Orlando di Lasso).

Saturday, March 28, 8 p.m., St. Helen's Anglican Church (4405 W. 8th Ave.), $22, vivaldichoir.org

Birds of a Feather: Grab yourself a Sunday morning coffee or tea and scoot down to Stanley Park for a guided "Birds of a Feather: Inklings of Spring" walk that will focus on the varied and beautiful bird life of the park. Learn how to identify species, hear a little bit about bird behaviour, and fill your lungs with some outstanding fresh air while you're at it.

Sunday, March 29, 9-11 a.m., Stanley Park Ecology Society – Nature House on Lost Lagoon, by donation, stanleyparkecology.ca
