Police do not believe there is a threat to the general public following an early morning shooting in East Vancouver that sent one man to hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

"Investigators are working on developing suspect information," said Constable Jana McGuinness, Wednesday. "It looks like this is between these two people."

Officers are searching for at least one suspect, who may be armed, following the shooting in a laneway behind an apartment building on Dundas Street.

Some of the shots may have been fired from a suite at 2155 Dundas St. at around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The 29-year-old victim, who is expected to recover following surgery, was located in the 2100 block of Triumph Street, a short distance from the site of the incident.

Police have cordoned off the laneway and have launched an extensive search for the second person involved in the shooting. They had few clues as of late Wednesday morning.
