Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Monday evening that would affect Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria, and the southern Gulf Islands.

The alert warned of "potentially damaging winds" in the three regions.

The west coat of Vancouver Island may be hit by northwest winds up to 90 km/h Monday evening.

Victoria, the Southern Gulf Islands, and Vancouver can expect westerly winds of 60 to 80 km/h.

The alert warns that a deepening low pressure system is forecast to move from the north coast this evening toward the southern Interior.

The winds are expected to die down by Tuesday morning as the low exits the Interior.
