RCMP say some of the dozens of bison that have frustrated police and their owner's attempts to recapture them near Camrose, Alta., have wandered back home.
Constable Mike Devloo says five animals showed up near the farm this morning and the owner was trying to round them up.
Up to 40 bison got out of their enclosure on Monday and many of the animals have turned up either wandering the streets of the city or running through the grounds of a golf course.
Const. Devloo says a motorist travelling on a highway southeast of Edmonton clipped one of the animals around 11 p.m. Tuesday after it came up out of a ditch.
The motorist was not injured and Const. Devloo says they're unsure whether the animal was seriously hurt because it took off.
About eight of the exhausted animals were found near the Camrose landfill and were loaded into a trailer to be trucked back to the farm from which they escaped.
