The RCMP has recovered the body of one of its own officers who was swept away in a Yukon river three weeks ago.
Const. Michael Potvin, 26, disappeared July 13 after his RCMP boat capsized on the Stewart River near Mayo, about 400 kilometres north of Whitehorse.
The RCMP say two officers were searching the river on Friday evening and found Potvin's body about 50 kilometres downstream from where he was last seen.
Sgt. Don Rogers says a memorial service that was already planned in Potvin's hometown of Ottawa on Wednesday will still go ahead, and his family plans to hold a funeral in the coming days.
Potvin wasn't wearing a life jacket and was attempting to swim to shore when he was swept away by the current.
