Peel police are urging women to come forward if they've had unprotected sex with an HIV-positive Brampton man who was arrested this week for the alleged sexual assault of a young child.
James Junior Udokang, 32, was arrested on Monday after the young child's family contacted police. A court order prohibits revealing the name, age or sex of the young victim, who is known to the accused.
After his arrest, Mr. Udokang revealed to police his HIV status, something he'd been aware of for about five years, said Constable Wayne Patterson of Peel regional police. He also indicated he may have had unprotected sex with adult women who were unaware of his HIV status, prompting investigators to issue a public safety advisory.
Constable Patterson doesn't know how many women may have come into contact with Mr. Udokang.
Mr. Udokang has been charged with aggravated sexual assault and sexual interference.
