A school board in Cape Breton says a teacher was disciplined after a mother complained that her daughter was allegedly taped to a chair.

Lorne Green, chairman of the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board, would not say what disciplinary action was taken.

Green said the teacher is still on staff at the elementary school.

Earlier this month, Laurie Pinhorn alleged that her daughter Samantha, a Grade 1 student at Greenfield Elementary, had her legs taped to a chair by a teacher during class.

Ms. Pinhorn asked the board to take action and demanded an apology for herself and her daughter.

Ms. Pinhorn said she had been contacted by Greenfield principal Joyce Morrison and was asked to come to the school for a meeting.
