A former university basketball star who played professionally in Europe faces criminal charges in connection with several incidents of indecent exposure in Halifax.

Neil James Wayne MacDonald, 25, faces seven counts of indecent exposure.

Police said they arrested a Bedford man on March 26, after a woman told police a man exposed himself and committed an indecent act while she was walking in the area of Pepperell and Preston streets.

Although the suspect drove off before police arrived, an arrest was made based on the woman's description of the man, his car and the car's licence plate number.

MacDonald, who played for St. Francis Xavier University, was charged in connection with that incident and six other alleged indecent acts that occurred in the city's south end in the past several weeks.

He is expected to appear in court at a later date.
