Quebec provincial police divers recovered the body of a 13-year-old boy on Monday after his snowmobile plunged into a lake, but have yet to find his missing father.
Authorities suspended the search for the 37-year-old father because of darkness late Monday afternoon, but will resume on Tuesday.
Rescue workers found the snowmobile Monday during a search of the lake near Montreal.
A police helicopter that was called in on Sunday saw snowmobile tracks on the ice that led into the lake.
Sergeant Marc Leduc of the Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes regional police says the tracks ended at the water's edge where there's no ice.
He says the tracks are about a half-kilometre away from a snowmobile trail that has been officially marked by the Quebec Federation of Snowmobilers.
The man and his son went out onto the ice Sunday and did not return home for dinner.
