The former mayor of a Montreal borough is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual touching involving someone under the age of 16, says an arrest warrant released Monday.
It states Gilles Deguire committed the alleged crimes between December 2013 and last October.
Deguire, 66, is a former longtime police officer.
He stepped down as mayor of the borough of Montreal-Nord earlier this month amid a police investigation.
It was not immediately known when he will be arraigned.
