A lobby group is calling on the Newfoundland government to get rid of nuisance moose that linger along the province's roadsides.

The Save Our People Action Committee made the call after a car-moose collison in central Newfoundland injured a family of four.

The family was returning to Grand Falls-Windsor from Botwood on Saturday night when their car swerved to avoid a bull moose.

The car hit the gravel shoulder and rolled over.

The lobby groups says the moose had been seen roaming in the area for three days.

Meanwhile, the RCMP in western Newfoundland say two young women were treated for minor injuries after their vehicle hit a moose in the Wreckhouse area Saturday night.
