In pictures: Old Man Winter pays Calgary an early visit
Tens of thousands of Calgary residents are without electricity and the city has opened its emergency operations centre for the first time since the floods of summer 2013. Although Alberta is accustomed to severe winter weather, the heavy September snowfall is at least six weeks earlier than usual.
