Ontario Provincial Police say a 70-year-old woman is dead after a boat collision in the Georgian Bay area north of Barrie.

Police say two vessels were travelling together (in Six Mile Lake) when one collided with a small island.

Police responded to the call late Saturday night.

They say Beverly MacDonald, of Kingston, was killed.

Police say the boat's operator, a 46-year-old man from Athens, is being treated in a Toronto hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Four other passengers were also brought to a Georgian Bay hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are continuing their investigation.
