A man charged in the death of a Saskatchewan teenager who was stabbed a dozen times following an attempted robbery has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

The accused, who was 17 at the time, pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter.

He was originally charged with second-degree murder in the death of James Foster, who was stabbed in the neck, shoulder and back.

Court heard eyewitnesses intervened when two males tried to rob the 18-year-old victim in July 2009.

Screams were heard moments later when Mr. Foster was chased down by the pair and attacked.

The second accused will appear in court Nov. 18.
