Two bodies believed to be a middle-aged husband and wife found in a home north of Barrie were the victims of foul play, police said Monday.

A 26-year-old male resident of the house is being questioned, police said, but authorities would not immediately say whether the suspect is the son of the slain couple.

Huronia West OPP officers went Sunday to the Springwater Township home of Donald White, 53, after he failed to show up for work that morning and a colleague called police.

Mr. White and his wife Lauredith, 53, are officially classified as missing, but OPP Constable Peter Leon said human remains were found inside their house on County Road 6, a 40-minute drive north of Barrie, and that the home was clearly a crime scene.

Officials from the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OPP's forensic identification were at the scene Monday afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to call OPP at 705-429-3575 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
