A man is dead and another injured after a pair of shootings just hours apart in the Halifax area.

A 20-year-old Halifax man died after one of Friday's shootings in the Spryfield area.

Police say they got a call for help just after 8:30 p.m and found a wounded man in the 100 block of Lavender Walk.

He was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say they were also called to a hospital emergency department around 6 p.m. after a 22-year-old man showed up with a gunshot wound.

The wound was not believed to be life-threatening.
