A 15-year-old Ontario girl on a school trip left her dead newborn baby in a London hotel room last week, police say.
The full-term baby was found last Saturday and did not have any signs of trauma. Investigators from the London Metropolitan Police Service discovered the hotel room had been occupied by children from Barrie, who had left earlier that day.
On Sunday, they contacted their Canadian counterparts to track down the mother. Barrie Police said they found the teen and took her to hospital for treatment.
The reason for the baby's death is not yet known, and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday in London.
No charges have been laid, and Barrie police directed further inquiries to the Met.
