A West Vancouver police dog is off the job after it attacked a teenager on a park bench while out on a training exercise. Before the dog's handler was able to react, it inflicted abrasions and bruising on the upper body and arm of the teen, who was treated on the scene, police said yesterday recounting the March 9th incident.

The dog will have to be recertified before being allowed back on duty. There was no immediate explanation for the delay in reporting the situation. Police were unavailable for comment beyond their basic statement.
