Regina police say they are investigating the discovery of three bodies at a housing complex in the city.

Police confirmed on Saturday that the bodies were those of two adults and a young child.

Chief Troy Hagen told a news conference that investigators believe the deaths were homicides, although they won't be certain until autopsies have been completed.

Police were called to the townhouse on Friday when a caretaker of the housing complex went to investigate complaints of a foul smell. He found one body and phoned police, who entered the home and found a total of three bodies.

Neighbours say a young couple lived in the home with their three-year-old son.

Police say they haven't been able to confirm the identities of the three bodies, which means they haven't been able to notify next-of-kin.

Investigators say that judging by the condition of the bodies, they believe they'd been in the home for several days.

Neighbours told CTV Regina they became suspicious when nobody could recall seeing members of a young family that lived there and people started to smell an awful stench coming from their suite.

They say the man, woman and little boy were from Vietnam and were quiet and mostly kept to themselves.

The major crimes unit is on the scene. A police spokeswoman cautioned that police treat every sudden death as suspicious death until they can confirm otherwise.
