A major probe into Quebec's construction industry has netted two more people allegedly involved in municipal corruption.

The accused are businessmen who allegedly offered money to a Quebec City employee in exchange for a permit for a housing project.

Authorities say the municipal employee, however, co-operated with police and the money was seized.

A 52-year-old Montreal man was arrested on a construction site in Quebec City and another man, aged 60, was arrested at his home northwest of Montreal.

The alleged events took place between January and April of this year.

Provincial police are now executing search three warrants related to the case - in two offices and at a construction site - in Montreal, Longueuil and Quebec City.

Quebec has been rocked by allegations of criminal collusion in a scandal that involves the construction industry, politicians and the Mafia.

In less than a week, the Crown has charged four people including a former Montreal borough mayor.

Police say the suspects in this latest case will appear in court in Quebec City later today.
