Mother Nature is throwing everything she has at Ontario today.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for much of southern Ontario -- from Windsor to Niagara Falls, the Toronto area, north to Algonquin Park and east to Ottawa.

Snow was expected overnight, then freezing rain Tuesday morning just in time for the morning commute.

It should all turn to rain later in the day as temperatures rise, but a return of cold weather at night will bring as much as two centimetres of snow.

Northern Ontario will also get a dose of snow today as a low pressure system from the U.S. moves over the upper Great Lakes.

Some areas between Lake Superior and James Bay could get 10 to 20 centimetres of snow.
