A teenager has been charged in the death of a woman whose body was found Monday in her northern Nova Scotia home.

Police said Tuesday that Zachary Quinn Brake, 18, faces a charge of second-degree murder.

An autopsy was expected to be performed Tuesday on the 37-year-old victim, Tracey Ann Rudderham.

"Because we're in the preliminary stages of our investigation, we will not be disclosing how she died," said RCMP Sgt. Brigdit Leger.

Sgt. Leger said Mr. Brake and Ms. Rudderham lived in the home on Mechanic Street together. She would not disclose the nature of their relationship.

She said officers were called to the home shortly before 3 a.m. after Mr. Brake went to the local police station. Sgt. Leger would not say what Mr. Brake told police, only that he "brought the matter to their attention."
