A 16-year-old boy who was shot while sitting on the front step of a Winnipeg home has died.

The death has been confirmed by police, who say a 13-year-old boy who was with the older male at the time suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Const. Jason Michalyshen, a police spokesman, says details of what happened in the Tuesday afternoon shooting are "very limited."

Earlier reports said the 16-year-old was struck in the chest and was dead when he arrived at hospital.

No arrests have been made.
