A 14-year-old boy is in hospital after Winnipeg police fired at least one shot in a stolen car pursuit.

Police say they came across a stolen vehicle along a busy street in the city's west end.

Const. Jason Michalyshyn says a police firearm was discharged.

But he says it is too early to say how many shots were fired or whether one or both officers in the police vehicle used their guns.

Const. Michalyshyn says the boy is in stable condition, while two other people have been taken into custody.

There are no reports of any bystanders being hurt.
