The case of two men found dead in a vehicle Tuesday morning in King City, Ont., just north of Toronto, is not being treated as suspicious, according to York Regional Police.

"The coroner doesn't think anything looks suspicious at this point," said Sergeant Gary Phillips earlier this afternoon.

Police say a passerby called 911 at 6:14 a.m. ET after seeing the vehicle parked on 15th Side Road, just east of Weston Road.

The caller couldn't see inside the vehicle, which appeared to be filled with fog. There were "a bunch of signs" found on the vehicle, which warned of poisonous gas inside and instructed the finder to call police said Sgt. Phillips.

Both King and Vaughan fire departments attended the scene with hazardous material suits, and told York Region Police officers that "the chemical left inside the car was extremely corrosive."

Police are still unsure exactly what kind of chemicals or gas might have been involved, but that the vehicle had a foul smell.

One victim was sitting in the driver's seat, the other was in the back "and the [chemical] container that was found was in the passenger seat of the car," said Sgt. Phillips.

Constable Andy Pattenden, who was also on the scene, told Sgt. Phillips that it "looked like they were just sleeping."

Most of the gas dissipated into the air when the vehicle was opened but wasn't harmful to those nearby.

Police know little about the two victims. Both appeared to be in their mid-twenties. The vehicle was a grey, four-door 2002 Toyota. The surrounding area is primarily farmland.

"It's just a weird set of circumstances," Sgt. Phillips said.
