A nearly three week-long manhunt came to a close this weekend with the arrest of a suspected gangster in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy at a basketball tournament.

Christopher Raphael, 20, who police say is a member of the Galloway Boys, a well-known Scarborough gang affiliated with the Crips, was arrested Friday. He is charged with the first-degree murder in the slaying of Adrian Ducas last month.

Police did not say where Mr. Raphael was found.

Mr. Ducas was playing basketball on the evening of Saturday, July 3 at the Malton Community Centre on Morning Star Drive in northern Mississauga. As he took a break from the game, four men walked into the centre looking for someone.

According to witnesses, they grabbed the basketballs, stopping the games, and demanded to know who was "representing" Malton. Mr. Ducas asked them to leave.

While at first, the men backed down, they later returned and shot him dead.

Within days of the homicide, police had identified Mr. Raphael as a suspect and obtained a Canada-wide warrant for him.

Mr. Raphael's cousin, Maurice Raphael, 23, Kevaughn Tulloch, 20, and Courtney Dawkins, 20, all of Toronto, were arrested last month and charged with first-degree murder. Cassandra Elizabeth Scavone, 20, has been charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
